Press Release

Dean Borghi Fine Art, is pleased to announce Friends with POP! a celebration of art and artists who contributed to the movement of pop. The Exhibition will be on view at 529 West 20th Street, Chelsea, New York City (10h Floor) starting Thursday October 26, 2017. The opening reception will take place on October 26th, 2017 from 6 – 8pm.

Three friends, pioneering unconventional ideas and becoming major influences to American art and the art world. American Painter, Neil Williams, American sculptor John Chamberlain, and American painter and printmaker Frank Stella. All stayed true to their unique inspirations allowing them to create works that transcend time in the art world today.

Using old cars and car parts to bring the abstract expressionist style into the three-dimensional space, John chamberlain (1927-2011) demonstrates his skill and bridged an art movement into a new space of thinking. Neil Williams (1934-1988) pioneered painting on irregular shaped canvases, braking the mold of using the standard canvas shapes to create his work. Best known for his words “What you see is that you get”, Frank Stella (b.1936) wows with his minimalistic works and his connections to the post painterly abstract.

Williams, Chamberlain and Stella found refuge in working closely together, often sharing a studio space; they influenced each other’s works and providing guidance to one another. The close relationship and influence between these three artists can still be seen today through the works they produced.  Although their mediums and style maybe different, all three have their unique approach to creating their own individual work.

With Friends with POP!, we are celebrating the relationship between three artists who changed the way we think, create and look at art. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, October 26th at 6pm to 8pm at our new location in Chelsea at 529 W. 20th street – 10th Floor. Dean Borghi Fine Art is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 6pm.
